Just my 2 pence worth, having just changed from a Jazz CVT with the same 1.4 engine, to a 1.8 Civic i-shift. The 1.4 engine is willing flexible, economical and everything you would expect from a Honda engine - BUT it is only 8 valve, with 2 spark plugs per cylinder which means that every second year service is more expensive.
